Bike recuperation, restoration and donation
Every year, an enormous number of bicycles are sent to the scrap heap because nothing can be done with them. We live in an era where overconsumption and the widespread destruction of resources and raw materials are bringing us to the brink of a great void that we dare not confront.
This project, on a very small scale with limited resources, tries to save some of these bicycles from destruction—about a hundred per year.
We therefore collect these bicycles to give them a second life. Using whatever resources we have on hand, we salvage parts from some that are beyond repair for others that need restoring.
Ultimately, the bicycles we save from oblivion are donated to partner organizations that work with vulnerable populations, such as Fedasil, Humanitarian HUB, Bonnevie, La Rue, and more broadly to anyone who wants a bicycle for everyday transportation but lacks the means to buy one.
The only part of the project that costs us money is the purchase of locks and lights that we install on each bike leaving the workshop, as well as helmets and fluorescent vests for the children. To be more self-sufficient, we rely on donations that allow us to buy these essential items.
Access to the project is only through our partner non-profit organizations, which select the beneficiaries, and by invitation only.
Thank you very much.
